• What we'll do Join a group of Thursday morning AMC hikers on a 5-6 mile AMC hike led by experienced AMC leader Walt Granda. You do not need to be a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club to come on this hike. Pre-registration is not required for this activity. Meet us at 9am at the hike start or meet first for breakfast or just a cup of coffee at Panera Bread ( off Long Pond Road in the shopping center with BJ's and Kohl's,) Head south from headquarters down the Wankinko and around the Frogfoot Reservoir. A little off the top – Pine Barrens Restoration tour

Tour part of the pine barrens restoration area with us. We will start at the headquarters and head south on Southwest Line Road towards some areas already cut back by the DCR. The DCR has announced a 10 year plan to restore the pine barrens in the area of Charge Pond and Fearing Pond. We will tour some of the areas to be actively managed over the next 10 years. Trail Blazing Sunday 2

Help us to reopen a favorite trail that has gotten overgrown in the last several years. Join a crew of volunteers from the New England Aquarium to help cut back some of the growth along the trail running southwest from the equestrian lot (P3 on the above map) and continuing southwest across Jessup to Lunxus and then to Dunham. There is no hunting on Sundays in Massachusetts so wearing blaze orange will not be necessary. Bring loppers and hand saws…

Help us work on trails in the Southwestern part of forest(circled trails in red on map), that lead out of Equestrian Parking lot #3. We have walked on these trails a few times over the last few months and it is a beautiful area of the forest. Our hope is to complete a four mile trail in this area. Trail Blazing Sunday

Help us work on the trail that connects the East Head and Bentley Loop trails(The Connector Trail) . We will clear overgrown areas, paint trail blazes and add additional signage. The East Head Trail is also muddy on spots. We will install log planks to make it easier walking in the flooded muddy areas. If there is any extra time, we will work on clearing parts of the East Head Trail or Bentley Loop that are overgrown. Meet at headquarters…
