This 81-feet-tall beautiful and impressive granite monument presides over an 11-acre site. Part of Pilgrim Memorial State Park, the monument was commissioned by the Pilgrim Society, the cornerstone was laid August 2, 1859. The monument was completed in October 1888, and was dedicated on August 1, 1889. The values and principles that motivated the Pilgrims to leave England and start their own colony are interpreted in the beautiful statue (Morality, Law, Education, and Liberty). The monument is the subject of the 2012, Kirk Cameron movie Monumental. Location: Allerton St.
