Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra’s Opening Night resounds with a grand-scale program featuring Ferde Grofé’s magnificent, jazzy American masterpiece, Grand Canyon Suite. Flowering like a desert rose, this piece paints a musical picture of the sights, sounds and sentiments experienced by Grofé on his road trip to this grandest of canyons. Our path winds to a grand opera composer, the successful and popular, Giacomo Puccini, and his Preludio Sinfonico. Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with its myriad, adventurous variations and featuring pianist, Ketevan Kartvelishvili, takes our evening to an epic conclusion!
