It’s a musical battle of bravado and flair with Mozart and Salieri on the program! While this fictional rivalry makes for fun movie twists, the music pairs in harmony. Two opera overtures by Salieri, The Storm at Sea and Falstaff set our start, one depicting a ship in rough seas and the other a story of charming misadventure. Mozart’s final symphony, No. 41, Jupiter, is pure delight, and regarded by many as one of the best ever composed. From its opening movement—a literal burst of notes—the piece exemplifies Mozart’s mastery of mesmerizing melodies. Award-winning virtuoso trumpeter and former Canadian Brass member, Brandon Ridenour, brings passion and power to Johann Hummel’s energetic Trumpet Concerto. Steven Karidoyanes conducting.
