Does anyone enjoy stargazing on a warm summer night? Plymouth and the surrounding area has heavy light pollution which makes it difficult to see the Milky Way, meteors and faint stars. My name is Mark and I am an astronomer. All summer long, on weekend nights, I charter a whale watching boat out of Plymouth ( Captain John ). We cruise out into the middle of Cape Cod Bay. At this point, we shut down the engines and float under the countless stars. The skies here, in the middle of Cape Cod Bay, are as dark as rural Vermont skies and the Milky Way, stars and meteors are amazing! We float for about 90 minutes and during that time on the top deck of the boat, I use a pointer to trace out the constellations, galaxies, planets, nebula, star clusters, satellites and much more. The unobstructed view of the sky and lack of mosquitoes makes it the perfect stargazing location! This will be our 5th year doing this great event! The cruise is from 9pm to midnight . The cost is $50 per person, payable when boarding.
