Tickets are now on sale for “Young Pilgrims,” a new play written and produced by New York-based, former sitcom writer and actress Sydney Blake. Directed by Theresa Chiasson of the Duxbury-based Bay Players, “Young Pilgrims” focuses on John Alden and his friends, who follow their hearts all the way to the new world. You’re sure to fall in love with the extremely talented young actors who make up this delightful cast.
The play originally premiered off-Broadway and garnered a great review from the New York Times. Blake, an actor (“Radio Days”, “The Purple Rose of Cairo”, “Late Night with David Letterman”) and writer (“Empty Nest”, “Mama’s Family”, “Major Dad”) took it upon herself to tell the story of how he (John Alden) met his wife, Priscilla. But rather than romanticizing early American history, Ms. Blake populates her play with Pilgrims who find their faith and the reality of stealing land from indigenous people at odds.” – Jose Solís, New York Times, Aug. 16, 2019.
“You’ll laugh and cry – but mostly laugh – at this unconventional, heartwarming experience…and you might even learn a few things you didn’t know about the Pilgrims,” Blake says.
“Young Pilgrims” runs through Aug. 13 with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $28 general admission, $23 for seniors (60+), and $18 for children under 18. This family-friendly production is sure to draw vacationers from the Plymouth area on summer evenings after seeing the sites and learning about Pilgrim history first-hand.
