Volunteer on the trails with Wildlands Trust and Northeast Wilderness Trust in Kingston, MA. Northeast Wilderness Trust’s newly protected Muddy Pond Preserve in Kingston is part of nearly 400 acres of contiguous open space. In the years before it was in conservation it became a hot spot for ATV riding in the area. In an effort to restore this natural area, to protect the land and many vernal pools within it, and to create a safe and accessible preserve for passive recreation, Northeast Wilderness Trust has been steadily closing the ATV trails and entryways.
Join us in this effort to continue to close off trails, mostly by moving dead and downed brush. Joe Falconeiri of Northeast Wilderness Trust and Erik Boyer of Wildlands Trust will lead the project. All training and tools will be provided, and no prior trail experience is necessary.
Please wear sturdy boots, long pants, and warm layers. Work gloves must be worn, which will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own. Please plan to carry a pack with PLENTY OF WATER. Work will be done far from any amenities.
All volunteers will be required to complete a volunteer health form and waiver before beginning the project.
PARKING: Please meet us in the Walmart parking lot, on the far right side if you’re facing the building. Look for the dark grey Toyota Tundra with the Wildlands Trust logo on it.
