Virginia Mason Vaughan is Professor Emerita at Clark University. Her published work on Shakespeare and his contemporaries includes Othello: A Contextual History; Performing Blackness on English Stages, 1500-1800; and ‘The Tempest’: Shakespeare in Performance.
Alden T. Vaughan is Professor Emeritus of History at Columbia University. He has published widely on colonial America, including New England Frontier: Puritans and Indians, 1620-1675; American Genesis: Captain John Smith and the Founding of Virginia; and Transatlantic Encounters: American Indians I Britain, 1500-1776.
Together the Vaughans edited The Tempest (Arden, Third Series) and wrote Caliban: A Cultural History and Shakespeare in America.
