Masterful, sultry jazz singer Donna Wood brings her quintessential entertainer gift to the Spire stage. Wood has performed at top venues across the country, including Los Angeles’ Jazz Bakery, NYC’s Tavern on the Green, The Blue Note, The Baltimore-Washington Jazz Festival and has performed with the Benny Goodman Tribute Orchestra. Over the past two years, Donna has been invited by Tony Bennett to open several of his shows. Donna’s husband and bassist Marshall Wood leads up Donna’s world-class jazz trio presenting a delectable set of jazz standards, ballads and blues.
Internationally acclaimed pianist/composer Yoko Miwa is quickly becoming known as one of the most powerful and compelling performers on the jazz scene today. In 2018, she performed at both the Atlanta Jazz Festival and the Litchfield Jazz Festival. Yoko and her trio perform regularly at major jazz clubs around the world. A favorite of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Miwa was chosen to play on “Marian McPartland & Friends,” part of the Coca Cola Generations in Jazz Festival. She was also chosen to perform at Lincoln Center’s annual Jazz and Leadership Workshop for The National Urban League’s Youth Summit. Miwa also appears regularly at New York’s famed Blue Note Jazz Club and has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of jazz greats including Sheila Jordan, Slide Hampton, Arturo Sandoval, George Garzone, Jon Faddis, Jerry Bergonzi, Esperanza Spalding, Terri Lyne Carrington and Kevin Mahogany among others.
