Orienteering is the activity of navigating through various environments using a map, compass and other tools and skills. While it is a very important skill, it is usually the least practiced. It is also a fun activity for adults, families, Scouts, Outdoor Professionals, Rescue Personnel, and Adventure Athletes to share and participate in. Introduction to Land Navigation is a 3 hour workshop for individuals seeking to create a solid foundation in orienteering for the purpose of backcountry travel.

Topics will include but not be limited to: Land and Terrain Identification, Compass Use, Pace Counting, Emergencies/Lost Person Scenarios as well as negotiating two actual field courses. The courses will be in the open area near where we also host Sky Viewing events.

Please bring your own compass, bottle of water, and appropriate attire for the days weather.

Classes also on Sunday, April 26, 12 noon. May 15, 10am

Space is limited to 25
