Fun with Fermentation! Learn how to preserve those fresh garden veggies while maintaining all the health benefits. Fermentation is a great alternative to freezing or pickling. Fermentation is easier than you might think so join us for a hands-on workshop on Sun, Sep 8th from 9-11 and Mon, Sep 9th from 5-7 pm and learn how to ferment. Day 1 (Sep 8th) will include an introduction and education about fermenting; we’ll also make a 24 hr fermented fruit salsa. Return on Day 2 (Sep 9th) to try the fermented salsa and prepare a shred ferment for on the go and a root pickle ferment. If we have time, we’ll have some fun as a kraut mob so you can have fresh sauerkraut (so much tastier than that mass produced mush in the stores) for Oktoberfest celebrations!
This class will be taught by Briget Bride who loves to demystify basic fermenting skills and encourages everyone to jump in. Cost is $75 per person for both days (8 and 9 Sep) and includes ALL ingredients and materials. Message us on facebook to sign up. Space is limited to 16.
This workshop is part of a series of workshops on food fermentation. Other workshops will include homebrewing (beer, wine, mead, cider, kombucha) and foods (cheese, yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, miso, kimchi, hot sauces, meats) and more. If it can be fermented, we’ll teach you how to do it at the IndieFerm Fermentation Studio.
