Let’s spread holiday cheer throughout Plymouth while making a difference in the lives of our senior citizens! Full Plates – Full Hearts At Redbrook invites Plymouth residents of all ages to set aside time to write cards and letters to senior citizens that they haven’t met.
Every Friday, Full Plates – Full Hearts At Redbrook distributes weekend food bags to Plymouth’s neediest senior citizens. These seniors are not only hungry for food, they are hungry for human communication. Many of our seniors live alone. Some face health restrictions. The pandemic has left these men and women isolated from friends, neighbors, and family members. We hope to change that. Throughout the month of December, we’d like to include cards, letters, and drawings in every senior food bag. Will you and your family help out?
We ask that every card and letter begin with the greeting, “Dear Cherished Senior,”
Wondering what to write? Share some of your favorite holiday memories, talk about your favorite places in Plymouth, discuss a book that you’re reading, recall a favorite vacation, or recount the antics of your pets. Offer some wishes for good health in the year ahead. Let the senior know that you will be sending them positive thoughts throughout 2021. If you type your letter on the computer, please use a size 14 or 16 font. You are welcome to send along multiple copies of the same letter.
Feeling creative? Decorate the margins of your letter or the envelope with drawings or stickers. If you’d rather not include your name, you may sign your correspondence, “A Caring Plymouth Resident”.
Young children are invited to make colorful drawings.
Place your cards, letters, and drawings in a large envelope and mail them to:
Full Plates-Full Hearts At Redbrook
1 Greenside Way North
Plymouth, MA 02360
Participate alone or invite your family, friends, neighbors, book club, church group, or coworkers to join you.
We hope that you will begin today, and continue to send cards, letters, and drawings throughout the month of December. We plan to add your correspondence to Friday senior food bags on December 4th, 11th, 18th, 23rd, and 30th.
Thank you for helping the Christmas spirit shine bright across Plymouth for our cherished seniors.
