Corn in Plymouth Colony

Typically exclusive to Plimoth Patuxet Museums members, this month we invite everyone to join the Museum for our monthly virtual/in-person program that offers a deeper look into topics relating to 17th-century New England.

August’s program features a conversation between Deputy Executive Director and Chief Historian Richard Pickering, Museum Gardener Dr. Fred Dunford, and Plimoth Grist Mill Guest Experience Manager Kim Van Wormer about the importance of corn in Plymouth Colony. Dunford and Van Wormer will explain how corn was not only a source of food in 1621, but rather a symbol of connection and understanding between the English Colonists and Indigenous People who met in 17th-century Patuxet.

Thanks to the generous support of the Bridge Street Fund, the July, August, and September 2022 Members-Only programs (offered in person and online) are free and open to the public.


When registering for this program, select “In-Person” or “Virtual/Zoom” to ensure you receive the correct information for attending the program.

For those attending In Person, the doors will open to the Maxwell Theater at Plimoth Patuxet Museums’ Visitors Center at 6:30pm.

For those participating online, a Zoom link will be emailed to you three hours prior to the program with a Zoom link for joining.
